This dress, mostly made of japanese silk brocade obis and decorated with antique lace from Le Puy, bronze filigrees, pearls and ivory peacock feathers draw an audacious parallel between sculptural elizabethan dresses and geometrical Noh theatre costumes, like a gold armor dressing the Virgin Queen, establishing her authority as a woman who became a nearly divine figure.
